Mendoza lies in the central western part of the Argentine territory, at the foothills of the Andean cordillera. Founded in 1561, this important Argentine city is the regional metropolis of the zone of Cuyo and has undergone important commercial, industrial, and cultural development. Mendoza is also a center of tourism near the Andean mountain range ans Mount Aconcagua, the highest peak in the North and South American continent.
Mendoza is a spotlessly clean city with wide tree lined streets and well cared for parks and squares with a pleasant atmosphere. Mendoza has a laid back pace with a number of cosmopolitan cafes. You would never know that Mendoza was a desert town unless you were told there is irrigation that runs along all of the main roads and fountains that are showering water in every main plaza you are never far from running water.
Mendoza has numerous wineries that produce fine wines of the highest quality that are exported throughout the world. You are able to visit many of these wineries and try their wines.
Mendoza's proximity to the Andean Mountain Range has developed Mendoza into a great destination for adventure tourism with activities such as: trekking, rafting, mountaineering, skiing during the winter season, astounding views for photographic opportunities, and many other adventure activities.
Mendoza has a number of shopping centers, hotels and lodging accommodations, numerous restaurants, shops selling regional products, and a large number of ice cream parlors. The city is lively during the day but really comes to life at night with an abundance of bars, restaurants, and cafés that overflow onto the sidewalks along Av Aristides.
Mendoza is able to offer a large number of possibilities to the visitor with the cosmopolitan life in the city along ecological, adventure, and natural tourism.
