About Playa Tamarindo
With its natural beaches, clear blue waters, natural surroundings, and near perfect weather, this is a great place to come
and realx and enjoy what Northern Costa Rica has to offer. With much to enjoy & even more to do, this multi-cultural community
is the ideal place to have some fun in the sun! The beaches here are great, and the entire town has a relaxed laidback feel
to it, making it a great place for anyone looking to relax and have a good time. With the surfing and windsurfing conditions
here near perfect for the experienced as well as novice surfers. There is much more to do in Tamarindo besides surfing there
is snorkeling, kayaking, jet skiing, horseback riding, 4x4 tours, nearby canopy tours, scuba diving, and much more. You
can also visit the nearby Marino Las Baulas National Park, where leatherback turtles come every summer to nest and breed. Sportfishing
is another favorite pastime here, with record marlin, tuna and sailfish catches off the coast.
Tamarindo town itself is quite colorful with plenty of local Tico flavor. Here you can find several bakeries, an outdoor vegetable market, an art gallery, pottery stores, a beauty spa and more than 40 restaurants, bars and discos with cuisines to suit every palette. Easily accessible by bus, the best way to get to Tamarindo is to fly into the Liberia International Airport.
Playa Tamarindo Campus
The classes at the Playa Tamarindo campus start every Monday throughout the year. There are 9 different levels of Spanish courses,
all of which are taught in Spanish. The maximum class size is 6 people per class. Normally classes will run from 8:00 a.m. to 12 p.m.
During peak times of the year, classes will also run in the afternoons from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Classes are held Monday through
Friday.
Standard Spanish Program 20 Spanish lessons per week. 55 minutes per class. Classes are designed for all student
levels, beginner to advanced. This Spanish language program consists of classes with a maximum of 6 students per teacher.
Spanish courses are held from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and are composed of a a combination of conversational grammar and practical
conversation and/or lectures.
Intensive Spanish Program 30 Spanish lessons per week. 55 minutes per class.
The perfect Spanish program for someone who prefers a more intensive Spanish language course. The format is the same as the Standard Program. The difference is that under this option you will receive an additional 2 hours per day of instruction in the afternoon. Courses are held from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The perfect Spanish program for someone who prefers a more intensive Spanish language course. The format is the same as the Standard Program. The difference is that under this option you will receive an additional 2 hours per day of instruction in the afternoon. Courses are held from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Private Spanish Program 20-35 Spanish lessons per week. 55 minutes per class. Max
1 student per class. Classes are designed for all student levels, beginner to advanced. If you have little time available
or prefer something very intensive, then please consider taking private Spanish language courses. If you are taking a group class
and would like to add a few hours per day to your Spanish program this is possible.
There are nice on campus residences
located right at the school. Overall this is probably the most popular accommodation choice for our students. The Residence
consists of 4 large apartments. Each apartment has 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, a equipt kitchen, small eating area and a large living
room. Our students at the residence will share a bedroom with other students and also the common areas. The amenities of each
of the apartments can best be described as basic but nice. We would classify the apartments as having the feel of a nice hostel or
college dorm. The on campus residence is only 5-10 minutes walking from the main center of Playa Tamarindo and the
beach areas.The residences each have air conditioning, cable TV, and high speed wireless internet.
Important Note: It is
important to register early due to the fact that space in the residence is limited and so it fills up fast! There are no meals
included in the on campus residence option.
The homestay option allows you to live with a Costa Rican host family which
is a great way to learn more about the culture while also having another place where you can practice your Spanish. Coastal Spanish has
carefully selected a number of families to help make your stay enjoyable.
Typical families will host one to two students at a
time. Each student will receive his/her own room and will get two meals per day (breakfast and dinner). Additionally each student
will get a key to allow them to come and go as they please. The homestays can be considered relatively small and basic. However don't
let this deter you. Costa Rican are well known for their hospitality!
The vast majority of our host families are located in the
towns of Santa Rose and Villa Real. These towns are approximately 3-5 miles from Playa Tamarindo. There is regular and cheap public
transportation between these towns and Playa Tamarindo, so getting back and forth will not present any difficulty. Buses run from
early in the morning to early evening. Taxis are available at virtually any hour.

Surf program includes: Surf board rental, first 2 weeks you will receive 6 hours of surf instruction. Surf classes are provided
